About Arrowhead Reservoir

Arrowhead Reservoir occupies a scenic stretch of Weld County between Greeley and Evans in northern Colorado's Front Range corridor. While the reservoir is visually striking, potential visitors should be aware that access restrictions limit what you can do here. Fishing access has been reported as restricted, with some visitors indicating that a tag or special authorization is required, and public fishing may no longer be permitted. The status of fishing access appears to be managed by the City of Evans, so contacting them directly for current regulations is strongly recommended before planning a fishing trip.

Even with the access limitations, Arrowhead Reservoir has earned a reputation as one of the more photogenic water features in the Greeley-Evans area. The reservoir provides a calm, reflective surface that catches the colors of the sky, and sunset photography here is particularly rewarding. The surrounding landscape of open grassland and agricultural fields creates an unobstructed horizon that amplifies the light show during golden hour. Photographers and casual visitors who simply want to enjoy the view will find Arrowhead Reservoir well worth a stop.

The reservoir sits at roughly 4,700 feet elevation on the northern Colorado plains, within easy reach of both Greeley and Evans. The area around the water is quiet and peaceful, offering a welcome break from the busier parks and recreation areas in the region. Bird watching can be productive here, as the reservoir attracts waterfowl, shorebirds, and raptors that use the water as a stopover along migration routes or as a year-round habitat.

Facilities at Arrowhead Reservoir are limited. There are no developed restrooms, picnic areas, or boat ramps. The shoreline is accessible for walking and viewing, but the lack of infrastructure means visitors should come prepared with their own water and supplies.

For those living nearby, Arrowhead Reservoir serves as a quick and accessible spot to enjoy a quiet moment by the water, watch wildlife, or capture landscape photography. The peaceful atmosphere is consistently noted by visitors, and the reservoir maintains a low-key, undiscovered feel despite its proximity to Greeley's growing urban footprint. If you are specifically looking for fishing access in Weld County, nearby alternatives with confirmed public access include Boyd Lake State Park and several community ponds managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

I live just down the road an some guy told me it's private now an no one can fish unless they have some tag. If that's not true I would like to hear from the city of Evans

Although you can only look at it, Arrowhead Reservoir is a beautiful place to go in Greeley. It is a great place for photographers to go at sunset.
