About Croke Reservoir

Croke Reservoir is a small urban lake tucked into a residential neighborhood in Northglenn, Adams County, offering a surprisingly pleasant escape for fishing, walking, and wildlife viewing just minutes from the Denver metro area. With a 0.7-mile trail circling the water, a fishing pier, and a scenic wildlife viewing platform, this city park punches above its weight for a neighborhood lake.

Fishing is the primary draw at Croke Reservoir. Bluegill are plentiful and easy to catch, making this a solid spot for beginners and kids learning to fish. Several reviewers also report surprisingly good-sized largemouth bass in the water. The fishing pier has five benches, though only two offer good casting positions, so competition for prime spots is real. Dedicated anglers arrive well before dawn to claim the best seats. One visitor reported catching five fish between 5:30 and 7:00 AM with a child, so early mornings are productive. Access from the Huron Street side is also possible but lacks railings, making it a concern for families with small children.

The paved loop trail around the reservoir makes for a pleasant walk in any season. Reviewers describe it as a wide gravel path with good shade from mature trees, and the fall colors are a particular highlight. The trail can become overgrown in certain sections during warmer months, which may bother visitors with allergies. A picnic pavilion and playground round out the amenities for families.

Wildlife viewing is a genuine bonus at Croke Reservoir. Visitors report diverse bird species making the lake their home, along with various insects and amphibians. The dedicated wildlife viewing platform gives you a good vantage point. The park has sentimental value for many longtime Northglenn residents who grew up climbing its trees and fishing its waters.

Be aware of a few restrictions and considerations before visiting. Dogs and bicycles are not permitted in the park, which has frustrated some visitors who biked over with pets. There is no dedicated parking lot, so you will need to find street parking along nearby residential streets such as Naiad Street. The bridge at the midway point provides lake access. Some reviewers have noted litter and occasional homeless encampments in the area, so conditions can vary.

Was looking for a new fishing adventure when I came across this place. It has a fishing peer that has 5 benches to sit at but only 2 are viable for fishing. We got there at 5:30am while it was still pitch black out and there was someone already there. Just something to keep in mind that fishing at the peer is limited. Lots of wild life to see such as birds, insects, amphibians and others alike. Overall my son had fun fishing and ended up catching 5 from 5:30 to 7am.

Gorgeous Park and Lake. Street parking on Naiad Street. There's a bridge about the midway point that has access to the lake. Several bird species make this their home as well.as various fish. The walking trail can become dense in certain areas, so if you have allergies, beware. Fishing off of Huron Street can be dangerous for little kids because there are no rails to prevent them from falling in

Love this spot. Spent many days climbing the trees as a kid. I took my senior photos here. My kids caught their first fish at this lake. So glad this park has only improved over the years. It's my favorite place to walk.
