About Neversweat Reservoir

Neversweat Reservoir sits in the high mesa country of western Colorado, a quiet impoundment surrounded by rolling rangeland and scattered aspens in Mesa County. At nearly 39 degrees north latitude and tucked well off the beaten path, this reservoir rewards visitors who seek solitude over spectacle. Ranching heritage is woven into the landscape here: cattle graze the surrounding meadows, and it is not unusual to see cows ambling through a campsite. That pastoral character is exactly what draws regulars back season after season.

Fishing is the primary draw. Anglers report that the reservoir holds trout, though catch rates vary and patience is part of the bargain. The still water and absence of motorized boat traffic create ideal conditions for float-tube fly fishing on calm mornings. Shore fishing works well from several accessible points along the bank, making it a solid option for families or anyone traveling light.

Beyond the water, Neversweat Reservoir serves as a base camp for wider exploration. Several other alpine lakes and backcountry trails lie within a short drive, and the surrounding terrain is excellent for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. Mule deer, elk, and a variety of raptors are common sightings in the area. During autumn, the aspen groves above the reservoir turn gold and draw photographers from across the Western Slope.

Primitive camping is available near the shoreline with no formal reservation system, which keeps the experience uncrowded and low-key. Facilities are minimal: expect vault toilets and undeveloped campsites rather than hookups or paved pads. Cell service is limited to nonexistent, so plan accordingly. Visitors should pack out all trash and bring their own drinking water.

Neversweat Reservoir is best suited for self-reliant campers, quiet-water anglers, and anyone who values open space over amenities. If you are looking for a place where the loudest sound is wind through grass, this is it.

It is a beautiful place, not really no people, but the fishing not to great never even got a bite, but have been told about people pulling fish out of their. I give it 4 because it is beautiful country could be a great place to camp without being desterbed and plenty of other lakes and adventures around.
